“ASWSU undoubtedly believes and supports the victim, and it is absolutely imperative that Mr. Hargraves be held accountable for the revolting actions he allegedly committed. To not proceed with this trial would be a gross miscarriage of justice.”
If Dan Hargraves actually did what he’s accused of doing, then he should have the book thrown at him.
ASWSU seems to think that this is the judge’s fault. There was a hung jury of 6-4 (nearly 50%) that didn’t agree that the evidence was strong enough to convict. The judge asked each juror whether they could come to a decision and each juror said “no”. Again, that’s not the judge’s fault.
Fortunately for us (and unfortunately for the ASWSU), there is still a rule of law in the US. You need evidence to convict.
