One the effects of the American Energy Renaissance brought about by fracking and horizontal drilling technologies that made the US the world’s No. 1 oil and natural producer. In 2018 (through October) the US produced more than 94% of the domestic energy consumed, representing the greatest degree of energy self-sufficiency in more than half a century, going all the way back to 1967.
