Two Starkly Different Economic News Articles

The AP ran two starkly different economic news stories, but didn’t bother to describe why they are different.

In “WTO cuts trade growth forecast to 3.9 percent for 2018”, we find out that global economic growth has slowed to 3.9% and is forecast to be 3.7%

However, in “U.S. economy grew at robust 4.2 percent rate in second quarter”, we learn that the US economy is going gangbusters.

So why the difference? Why is the US economy so much stronger than the global economy?

Could it be Trump’s tax stimulus and his requirement to lower trade barriers and tariffs?
