One example of the ugliness was showcased during the D.C. protests as a large crowd gathered outside of the Trump International Hotel. Throughout the day anyone seemingly associated with the hotel, whether staff or guest, was loudly booed and catcalled by the assembled throng. The police officers and security details patrolling the area were not immune to the classless behavior, and even a Good Samaritan was treated with alacrity.
In fact, Good Samaritans were treated especially poorly even as they tried to render aid to… a protester.
Around 4 PM a female protester suffered a heart attack right outside of the hotel. The emergency triggered hotel staff to spring into action by retrieving a defibrillator from the hotel in an effort to save the woman’s life. Even as the staffer sprinted past the unruly crowd to lend aid to the fallen protester, her comrades booed and hissed at his efforts.
The police standing by were amazed at the disturbing behavior from the crowd, with one officer even noting that “You’re booing and they’re trying to save your lives.”
