According to the Mail, the Centre for Climate Change Economics (CCCEP) at the London School of Economics, one of Britain’s leading universities, has defrauded taxpayers of some £9 million in UK government grants by claiming credit for studies it had not funded and for papers published by rival academics.
Among other questionable practices, The Mail investigation revealed that:
- Some of the papers the CCCEP listed have nothing to do with climate change – such as the reasons why people buy particular items in supermarkets and why middle class people ‘respond more favourably’ to the scenery of the Peak District than their working class counterparts;
- Some of the papers had nothing to do with the CCCEP, in fact, they were published before the CCCEP was even founded.
“It is serious misconduct to claim credit for a paper you haven’t supported, and it’s fraud to use that in a bid to renew a grant,” Professor Richard Tol, a climate economics expert from Sussex University whose research was reportedly stolen by CCCEP, told The Daily Mail. It is “a clear case of fraud – using deception for financial gain.”
In other words, it’s basically yet another make-work scheme for the various parasitical academics, researchers and propagandists on the climate change gravy train.
