This from the WaPo:
Texas is bracing for potentially catastrophic flooding and winds as Hurricane Harvey intensified Thursday and cruised toward a late Friday impact near Corpus Christi.
The National Hurricane Center described Harvey’s sudden strengthening as “astounding.” The storm is expected to strike as a Category 3 hurricane – meaning with winds greater than 111 miles per hour – making it the most powerful storm to make landfall in the United States since Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
I want to put a different spin on this.
This Category 3 hurricane is “the most powerful storm to make landfall in the United States since Hurricane Wilma in 2005.”
Recall that AlGore promised us that hurricanes would intensify and be more common due to global warming. And that a Category 5 would not be large enough to classify the global warming hurricanes of the future.
That was back in 2006. Since then, this is the first Category 3 hurricane to make landfall in the USA.
Who is holding Gore’s feet to the fire for such prognostications?
