Suspect in case involving bomb threats and Nazi symbols on WSU campus pleads guilty

I posted about this originally back in August 2017. I noted at that time that he wasn’t a very good Nazi sympathizer since he drew the swastikas all backwards. As Lee wrote

That is not a Nazi swastika – it’s counterclockwise (left-handed) while Nazi swastikas are always right handed. Whatever idiot scratched this in the drywall was not a Nazi, nor a white supremacist, nor educated. The left-handed swastika (called a sauvastika) is associated with ancient Buddhism, Jainism, and other eastern religions.

The suspect from last Summer’s case involving bomb threats and Nazi symbols on the Washington State University campus has pleaded guilty.  18 year old former WSU student Jose Andres Tecuatl pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of felony threat to bomb in Whitman County Superior Court.  In return for the plea, Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy dropped 2 additional counts of the same felony.

Tecuatl was arrested by WSU Police in late August for making multiple bomb threats that month.  Two of the threats forced the evacuation of Stimson Hall where Tecuatl was working as a Resident Advisor.  One threat, scratched into a wall in Stimson, included swastikas.  Another swastika was written on a whiteboard in a separate threat discovered in the library.  Tecuatl reported most of his bomb threats to police with the last instance leading to his arrest.  WSU Police determined that the final threat was printed off Tecuatl’s computer.

The former student, originally from Tustin California, was sentenced to 20 days in jail and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.  Tecuatl apologized during his sentencing but didn’t explain his motivation.  Tecuatl has no prior criminal history.  The sentence was handed down by Lincoln County Superior Court Judge John Strohmaier who was filling in for local Judge Gary Libey.  Judge Libey was recused from the case by the defense.

Of course, he wasn’t very good at drawing swastikas since he drew them backwards.
