Global warning does this: record cold, snow in May, …
From the Idaho State Journal:
It’s almost May but winter-like temperatures as well as snow are in the forecast for East Idaho.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Sunday night and Monday morning in East Idaho calling for temps in the 20s. Temperatures this cold will be capable of killing crops and other sensitive vegetation, the weather service said.
Snow and rain could possibly fall on East Idaho Sunday through Tuesday, with the greatest chances of precipitation in lower elevation areas such as Pocatello, Chubbuck, American Falls, Aberdeen, Fort Hall, Blackfoot, Shelley, Firth, Atomic City, Idaho Falls, Ammon, Rigby and Rexburg being on Tuesday.
Pocatello experienced a very brief snow shower on Sunday morning and many of East Idaho’s higher elevation areas including Island Park, Ashton, Arco, Craters of the Moon, Tetonia, Victor and Driggs could also see snow showers with little accumulation on Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.
There’s a better chance of snow and rain throughout East Idaho’s mountains on Monday, and by Tuesday those chances improve even more and the precipitation could even fall on the region’s lower elevation towns and cities.
The greatest chance for snow across East Idaho is on Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.
