By letting women drive, Saudi Arabia has become a moderate Islamic country. </sarcasm>
Saudi Arabia’s monarch — Prince Salman — promises to restore moderate Islam within the nation to mitigate extremism.
Prince Salman made the remarks Tuesday when he attended the Future Investment Initiative Conference at Saudi Arabia’s capital.
He disclosed his economic plans for a mega city, envisioning a $640 billion project to further bolster the oil rich nation.
The prince claims he wants to modernize and transform the Islamic country to one that is inclusive to all religions.
Prince Salman condemned terrorism and claimed the nation will do more to tackle extremism.
“70 percent of Saudi people are younger than 30 and honestly we will not waste another 30 years of our life before dealing with extremist ideas,” announced Prince Salman. “We will not spend the next 30 years of our lives dealing with destructive ideas…we will destroy them today and immediately.”
This comes after Saudi Arabia lifted the ban that prevented women from driving for six decades.
The new law is set to take effect next year.
