Pullman PD has purchased 4 drones

All the better to watch protect you with.

The Pullman Police Department has purchased 4 drones, becoming one of the first law enforcement agencies in Washington to utilize the technology. The Pullman PD spent about 9,000 dollars to buy the commercially available quadcopters. They have live video streaming and can be flown by operators using first person googles. The department has also purchased an infrared heat sensing camera for the drones. Three Pullman Police Officers are certified as drone pilots. Chief Gary Jenkins says he has a draft interim policy in place regarding how the drones will be used. The cost of the drones was within the budget provided to the Pullman PD by city council. The Pullman Police drones will be unveiled to the public during an Aerial Adventure Day next week. The event will include drone demonstrations from several clubs. Pullman’s 1st Annual Aerial Adventure Day will be a week from Saturday, August 12th, from 10:00 to 2:00 in Kruegel Park on Pioneer Hill.
