PRH would likely be the first hospital in WA to offer gender reassignment surgery if approved by Commissioners

Via KQQQ:

It’s believed that Pullman Regional Hospital would become the first hospital in the State of Washington to offer gender reassignment surgery if approved by the hospital commissioners. Doctor Geoff Stiller is in the final stages of training to become certified to perform the controversial procedure. That phase of training includes conducting the surgery under the supervision of a trained physician in the procedure. Those surgeries have been taking place at PRH since last week.

The issue has been opened up for public debate as the hospital commissioners will decide whether or not to offer the procedure going forward. PRH primary care Dr. Rod Story has been speaking out against offering the surgery, arguing that multiple studies show that gender reassignment doesn’t help the patient.

PRH is accepting public comment on whether or not to offer the surgery. That comment period runs through July 3rd. The hospital commissioners will take public comment on the issue during a meeting on the 29th before making a decision. Administrators at the hospital believe that if approved, PRH would become the first hospital in the Washington to offer gender reassignment surgery.
