President Trump says Democrats have to abandon their resistance to border security and support law enforcement, which he says will save innocent lives.
At a roundtable discussion in New York Wednesday, the president said Democrats refuse to close loopholes for immigration laws, including “catch and release.”
He and others also talked about the violence caused by MS-13 gang members.
The president praised ICE agents for their work in rounding up criminal illegal immigrants, and defended his recent remarks about the gang members.
“I noticed recently where Democrats — Nancy Pelosi as an example — are trying to defend MS-13 gang members,” said President Trump. “I called them animals the other day and I was met with rebuke — they said, ‘they’re people’ — they’re not people, these are animals and we have to be very, very tough.”
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein both said unaccompanied minors are the most vulnerable people for recruitment into the notorious gang.
