During an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, President Barrack Obama offered his explanation regarding southern states opposition to him:
“I think there’s a reason why attitudes about my presidency among whites in Northern states are very different from whites in Southern states,” Obama told Zakaria. “Are there folks whose primary concern about me has been that I seem foreign, the other? Are those who champion the ‘birther’ movement feeding off of bias? Absolutely.”
Could it be that Southerners oppose you for your politics and policies?
South Carolina has the reputation of being the biggest racist state (I lived there 7 years. Never personally saw it).
And in South Carolina they have elected multiple times the Indian born Governor Nikki Randhawa Haley, who happens to be Republican and is very popular in the state.
So maybe it has less to do with melanin and more to do with politics.
