The Moscow City Council played these cards close to the chest.
The City of Moscow may be one step closer to building a new police station after approving a land purchase at Monday night’s council meeting. City staff presented 2.3 acres of land on the south end of town that they believed would be a suitable site for construction of a new police station. The city says they have a willing seller and that the site allows for adequate response times around the city. The land is located along US 95 and Southview Avenue next to the Grove apartments. Now the city is left with finding the money, as the purchase for the land is expected to cost $807,656. Moscow plans to place an estimated $10 million bond on the May 2019 ballot to pay for both the land and construction of the new police station. Meanwhile, city staff will work to conduct a more in-depth review of the site with a 90-day feasibility period that gives the city an option to withdraw if the land does not meet their needs.
