Letter to the Editor

Hal Vandevord writes the following Letter to the Editor.

Notice how he equates the morality of a) eating meat, b) killing terrorists, and c) murdering unborn innocent children.

Now there’s some logic for you.

The U.S. House has passed legislation that would permanently bar federal funds from paying for any abortion and would block insurance tax credits for abortion coverage. A temporary ban is in effect already.

Abortion is legal in this country, and many support it as a choice available to a free people. Many Quakers and other pacifists tolerantly continue to pay for bombs and bullets. Vegetarians, many of whom abstain from meat on moral grounds, silently continue to pay for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other government programs involving meat and the meat industry in this country. They don’t stamp their feet in favor of banning meat for the rest of us.

We need to allow other people to live as they will, within the law. That may mean that sometimes some of your money will be spent on me, or some of my money will be spent on you.
