Around one hundred police and firefighters have moved in to clear the remaining 500 migrants from a shantytown between the towns of San Severo and Rignano Garganico in Italy.
Known as the “Great Ghetto”, the wood and cardboard shelters have been used by migrants working on farms in the area.
Around 3,000 were estimated to be living there at its height.
It comes after an investigation in March 2016 raised concerns of criminal activity at the camp.
