Dem. Sen. Gillibrand: Bill Clinton Should Have Resigned Over White House Affair

The Democrats didn’t think it was an issue back then. Now all of a sudden they are woke?

Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says former President Bill Clinton should have resigned in the face of allegations made by former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

On Thursday, the New York senator said a resignation would have been the appropriate response after his inappropriate relationship with the intern was uncovered in 1998.

“Yes I think that is the appropriate response,” Sen. Gillibrand said. “But I think things have changed today and I think under those circumstances there should be a different reaction.”

Gillibrand succeeded Hillary Clinton as New York’s senator in 2009 and has talked highly of the Clinton’s since then, and has accepted their endorsements and campaign contributions. Nevertheless, the New York senator used the opportunity to blast former President Clinton for his sexual misconduct.

The senator’s comments received a strong response from Hillary Clinton’s former spokesman, criticizing her for accepting support from the Clinton’s for over 20 years.

The senator’s remarks come as more attention is being given to the surmounting allegations of sexual misconduct committed by politicians, media and entertainment personalities across the nation.
