Crews will be mopping up the Fletcher Road Fire near Starbuck Monday. Firefighters from the state mobilized fire arrived on scene Sunday from around Washington. The blaze has torched about 9,200 acres in Columbia and Walla Walla Counties along State Route 261 South of Lyons Ferry. The fire is 69% contained. Crews worked through the night to get the blaze under control. Very Large Air Tankers made fire retardant drops on the flames including a wide body DC10 jet. Some Bonneville Power Administration lines were threatened along with 7 homes. No structures have been lost there are still about 50 firefighters on scene. Several crews that were battling the Snake River Rire in Whitman and Garfield Counties were reassigned to this fire. It was sparked Sunday by lightning.
