More on the UI rape allegations.
Moscow Police believe that a University of Idaho football player forcibly raped a female student on campus early Friday morning. 18 year old freshman defensive back Kyree Curington was arrested by Police on Saturday for felony rape.
According to court documents, the case began early Friday morning when Police received a call from the mother of the alleged victim. She told officers that her daughter might have just been sexually assaulted. Officers contacted the alleged victim who stated she had met a Vandal football player on social media who went by the nickname “Ree.” Police quickly confirmed that “Ree” was Curington. She ran into Curington early Friday morning while she was at Stubblefields bar in Pullman with several friends. The woman went back to Moscow. She admitted to officers that she tried marijuana for the first time that night and felt the effect of the drug. She told police that she and Curington agreed that he could sleep in her bed with her that night. She told officers that she let Curington into her dorm room and told him repeatedly that she had no intentions of having any sexual contact with him. Curington then reportedly forcibly raped the woman in her bed. Her roommate was also in the room but didn’t realize that her friend was reportedly being assaulted because she was listening to music blasting on her headphones. Curington then left and the alleged victim called her friends and parents immediately. She underwent a rape examination at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow.
Officers say Curington was uncooperative when they met him Friday morning. Police then obtained and executed a search warrant of his dorm room and took him into custody on an arrest warrant. He was placed on 75,000 dollars bond. Curington was released from jail on Sunday after posting bond. He had his arraignment for felony rape Monday morning in Latah County Second District Court. His preliminary hearing has been set for January 10th.
Curington was suspended from the UI football team Friday morning. He appeared in 3 games for the Vandals last season.
