Brief: Moscow recognized as one of top 50 safest college towns in the US

From the Daily News

The city of Moscow ranks No. 17 in safest college towns in U.S., according to a recent study by Safewise.

Safewise analyzed data from the FBI Uniform Crime Report to determine its rankings.

Of Moscow’s 25,000 people, the study reported there were only 0.71 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 19.2 property crimes per 1,000 people.

Safewise reported that in determining the amount of violent crimes in college towns, it examined the number of reported murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults.

Moscow was the only city on the top 50 safest college towns that reported zero rapes and zero murders.

Pullman just barely missed the cut off, ranking No. 51. Lewiston ranked No. 45.
