The prolonged frigid temperatures are driving up power demand to its highest levels in nearly a decade.  The Bonneville Power Administration reports that the increased power demand spiked on the 6th at nearly 11,000 megawatts.  That’s enough electricity to power eight million homes.  That was the most power produced by the BPA since 2009.  Most of the BPA’s power comes from 10 federal dams, 6 of them on the Columbia River and the Four Lower Snake River Dams.
