A 25,000-acre wildfire near Palouse Falls is threatening homes, crops, a fish hatchery and a state highway, officials said Monday. The blaze started with a lightning strike Sunday in Palouse Falls State Park, a popular hiking destination in Franklin County about five miles southeast of Washtucna, according to the Washington State Patrol. Virginia Painter, a state parks spokeswoman, said the park has been closed to visitors.
