Scottish locals have erected a Mexican flag next to Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire golf course ahead of the presumptive GOP presidential nominee’s scheduled visit to the area Saturday.
Residents on the Menie Estate said they raised the flag as part of their “Tripping up Trump” campaign against Trump International Golf Links and the Trump Organization, which has fought for years to acquire their land for further development, BuzzFeed reported.
“The point of the flag is to show solidarity with the Mexicans and every other group that Trump has decried, derided, insulted, and tried to marginalize,” David Milne said.
“We wanted to point out that while he seems to think he can say what he likes in one place and not hear about it elsewhere, he is wrong,” he told BuzzFeed. “If he insults someone in the States, it doesn’t mean we don’t hear about it here. We wanted to show solidarity but we don’t think he is worth doing anything more.”
