Moscow Police have ruled out any connection between two Northwest stabbing cases and their investigation into who murdered four University of Idaho students.

The Moscow PD released an update Friday on their investigation into the killings of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle. The students were found stabbed to death inside an apartment near campus on November 13th.

Several media inquiries have asked if the case is related to a 1999 double stabbing in Pullman and a double stabbing in Salem from last year. Moscow Police say there are similarities with their case but found that there does not appear to be any evidence to support that the stabbings are related.

The stabbing last year in Salem on August 13th left one person dead and another survived 19 stab wounds. Authorities in Salem still haven’t found the armed masked intruder who stabbed the victims.

The 1999 Pullman double stabbing refers to a case where two female Washington State University students were attacked inside a college hill apartment. Two men from Vietnam were arrested as they were trying to flee the country following the stabbings. Both were convicted and sent to prison in that case. The women who were stabbed survived the attack.

Over 260 digital media submissions from the public have been uploaded to the FBI link to help investigators solve the case. 113 pieces of physical evidence have been collected and sent to the Idaho State Crime Lab for analysis.

Anyone with information about the case, including any digital media that may be helpful is asked to contact investigators. You can find a link for that here https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/1064/King-Road-Homicides

There will be a candlelight vigil for the victims at the UI Wednesday night.
