I have experienced all of this first-hand.
My mom had a Kodak Brownie. My first camera was a little Kodak Instamatic.
When I was in the navy, I picked up a Minolta XD-11. That lasted me until I got my first digital camera, which I still have: a Canon EOS.
But I only take my iPhone with me any more. The zoom on it is incredible, and it takes better photos than I ever got with my Canon EOS.
