It’s wrong when Trump uses the word, but it’s ok when a Democrat uses it, or refers to ICE detention centers as “concentration camps.”
2020 presidential hopeful Joe Biden is facing backlash after he publicly admonished President Trump for referring to the impeachment inquiry as a “lynching ” despite using the same language in 1998.
The video of Biden referring to the Clinton impeachment inquiry as a partisan lynching resurfaced late Tuesday, and has already resulted in many demands for an apology from the candidate.

Impeachment is not “lynching,” it is part of our Constitution. Our country has a dark, shameful history with lynching, and to even think about making this comparison is abhorrent. It’s despicable. https://t.co/QcC25vhNeb
“Even if the president should be impeached, history is going to question whether or not this was just a partisan lynching or whether or not it was something that, in fact, met the standard, the very high bar that was set by the founders as to what constitutes as impeachable,” Biden formally stated in regards to Bill Clinton during a 1998 CNN interview.
And then this:
The video comes after Biden called out President Trump for referring to the current impeachment inquiry. He said, “to even think about making this comparison is abhorrent.”
Biden has taken to Twitter to apologize. He said lynching was not the right word to use, but excused the gaffe by claiming the comparison was accidental.

This wasn’t the right word to use and I’m sorry about that. Trump on the other hand chose his words deliberately today in his use of the word lynching and continues to stoke racial divides in this country daily. https://t.co/mHfFC8HluZ
