Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday questioned the Democratic leadership of the House for planning a public rebuke of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitic statements, saying no such action was taken when Latinos and others were attacked.

“One of the things that is hurtful about the extent to which reprimand is sought of Ilhan is that no one seeks this level of reprimand when members make statements about Latinx + other communities,” the freshman New York lawmaker tweeted, using a gender-neutral term for Latinos.

“… (during the shutdown, a GOP member yelled ‘Go back to Puerto Rico!’ on the floor),” she added.

The 29-year-old progressive darling said it wasn’t her “position to tell people how to feel, or that their hurt is invalid.”
