Could affect nearly 200 million people
Using words such as “life-threatening,” “dangerous,” “brutal,” and “unprecedented,” the National Weather Service is forecasting extreme cold for the U.S. next week.
The upper Midwest and Great Lakes will plunge into life-threatening conditions, the weather service said Friday. The cold will be most intense from Tuesday through Thursday.
Although the north-central region will experience the worst of the cold, practically the entire eastern two-thirds of the nation, all the way down to central Florida, will see freezing temperatures.
Nearly 200 million people live in the area affected.
