The Trump administration eased restrictions around short-term health plans. The new rule allows cheaper, less comprehensive policies to be carried for as long as 36 months — up from the current 90-day cap. People will be able to sign up for the plans from October. The offerings are expected to undercut the Affordable Care Act, which mandated comprehensive coverage and other protections, by drawing away healthier people needed to offset costs for the sick and elderly.
