The Democratic National Committee adopts a new rule affecting who can run for its presidential nomination.
The new regulation was adopted Friday by the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee.
According to the rule, any candidate running for the Democrat nomination must be a member of the party, and ‘run and serve’ as a Democrat.
Some believe the DNC is looking to keep outsider candidates like Bernie sanders, from taking their nomination in 2020.
The Vermont Senator lost the battle against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primaries, despite being identified as a Democratic Socialist.
However, leaked documents revealed the DNC made strategic plans to undermine Sanders, and ultimately hand its nomination to Clinton.
