After months of community discussion, Blaine County School District trustees voted Tuesday to adopt a draft gender inclusion policy that grants school kids the right to use bathrooms or locker rooms that coincide with their “deeply held sense or psychological knowledge of their own gender.” The policy also allows students to stay with gender-similar groups on overnight trips and play sports based on their gender identity. As per policy, alternate accommodations would be provided for any students who would feel uncomfortable under these situations. Trustees voted 2-1 in favor of the policy, with Trustee Elizabeth Corker absent.
