Senator Rand Paul suffers five broken ribs after being assaulted at his home.
A senior adviser for the Kentucky lawmaker said Paul is in a considerable amount of pain and has difficulty moving around.
He added, the pain could last weeks or even months.
This comes after police arrested his neighbor– 59-year-old Rene Boucher — who is accused of blindsiding and attacking the senator.
He was released from jail Saturday after posting a $7,500 bond.
A motive for the attack is not yet known.
