Idaho Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch have indicated they’ll vote in favor of proceeding to consider a controversial GOP health care bill when it comes up for a vote in the Senate on Tuesday; here are their full statements:

Crapo’s communications director, Lindsay Nothern, issued this statement:

“Senator Crapo is open to real reforms to deliver truly affordable health care as well as improved access to quality care that Americans want and deserve without the failures that are inherent in Obamacare. On Tuesday, the Senate will consider a motion to proceed, which will allow the Senate to take up, discuss and amend a healthcare bill.  Senator Crapo will support that motion to proceed.  The Senator’s offices are hearing from Idahoans on both sides of this issue and he appreciates the feedback he has received.  As this process continues he will keep those comments in mind but his overall focus is on repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a market-oriented healthcare system that improves access and affordability for everyone.”

Risch issued this statement:

“I voted against the Affordable Care Act in 2010 because, as we are seeing today, it is unsustainable and unaffordable. The best path forward is to repeal and replace the law with a health care system driven by the wants and needs of the American people, not the wants and needs of the federal government. Health care is one of – if not the most – complex and personal issues I have worked on in my 40+ years of public service, and it is incredibly hard to resolve. Having said that, my colleagues and I will continue to work on this until we have a solution.”
