74 cats rescued from house fire in Boville

I cannot imagine what a house with 74+ cats smelled like.

There are people. There are cat people. And then there are these kinds of cat people.

Latah County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in rescuing 74 cats from a house fire on the 300 block of Third Avenue in Bovill on Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office reported at about 5 p.m. a faulty chimney initially caused the house fire. Flames quickly spread to the frame of the residence. Bovill and Deary volunteer fire departments responded to fight the fire.

Two women and three men were also displaced from the residence and were referred to the Red Cross for housing assistance.

No injuries were reported, and the Sheriff’s Office said it is unknown how many cats were unaccounted for.
