Snow into the deep south on Friday

“Rare winter storm warnings have been issued for parts of Alabama and Mississippi,” says weather.com.

Accumulating snow in parts of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

A strip of wet snow and sleet is expected by early Friday morning from eastern Louisiana to north Georgia, possibly parts of the Atlanta metro area,” according to weather.com.

Most areas will probably see snow accumulations of less than one inch, but some may exceed that amount.

“Should Atlanta receive 1 inch, it would be the 2nd earliest Dec. snowfall greater than/equal to 1 inch on record”, according to meteorologist Keith Stellman at NWS Atlanta.
