Jupiter’s Great Red Spot extending upward as it shrinks

NewImageNow for something completely different: Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is extending upward as it shrinks in size.

I’ve been fascinated by Jupiter’s Great Red Spot. It has been continually observed since 1878, and there are some references to it as far back as 1665 and 1713.

Once big enough to swallow three earths, it’s been shrinking for 150 years.

Jupiter’s Great Red Spot extending upward as it shrinks

Though once big enough to swallow three Earths with room to spare, Jupiter’s Great Red Spot has been shrinking for a century and a half.
