This is the 2nd high-profile aid to bail on her. From the Daily News:
BOISE – The deputy campaign manager and treasurer for Idaho Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paulette Jordan has resigned, marking the second high-profile departure of an aide from Jordan’s campaign just days before the May 15 primary.
Emily Mowrer confirmed in a text message on Thursday she stepped away from her volunteer position on the Jordan campaign earlier this week but declined to say why she left.
Mowrer is based in northern Idaho and works as a senior graphic design supervisor for the University of Idaho.
A day before Mowrer submitted her resignation on May 8, Jordan’s field and political director Jennifer Martinez also announced she was no longer working for the campaign.
“I can confirm that yes, I resigned from my volunteer position … one day after Jennifer Martinez resigned of her own accord on Monday,” Mowrer said in a text message.
Martinez had said she had some disagreements with the direction of the campaign but did not give specifics.
Jordan’s campaign announced in a text message statement Wednesday that Martinez was leaving and would be replaced soon, but the campaign did not immediately respond to an email message seeking further comment.
“Jen Martinez has been instrumental to our campaign’s early success and momentum placing our campaign on the right path to making history. We wish her the best in her next pursuits,” the statement said.
Martinez managed Lisa Sanchez’s successful Boise city council campaign in 2017 and was previously the financial director for the Idaho Democratic Party.
Jordan has not released a statement about Mowrer’s resignation.
The 38-year-old Jordan, a former state lawmaker and member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, is running against 72-year-old Boise businessman A.J. Balukoff in the Democratic primary.
