Jihadi Plot to Kill British PM Foiled

Just like with 9/11, these jihadists will ultimately succeed.

An Islamist plot to assassinate British Prime Minster Theresa May was foiled by security services, Sky News reported.

Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, from north London, and Mohammed Aqib Imran, 21, from southeast Birmingham, were planning a terror attack which was to begin with an IED (improvised explosive device) outside the prime minister’s residence on Downing Street. In the ensuing chaos, the pair planned to attack the prime minister before being killed by security forces.

The two were scheduled to appear in court December 6.

The plot was so serious that the head of MI5 (the UK’s equivalent to the FBI), Andrew Parker, came to a government cabinet meeting to brief ministers.

The security agency also revealed the same day it had prevented nine terror attacks in the UK this year. However, in two of the most serious attacks that did occur, serious glitches in the security agency came to light in a recent review, causing many to speculate these attacks could have been prevented as well.

In the case of Manchester bomber Salman Abedi, who killed 22 (including 10 children and teenagers) at an Ariana Grande concert in May, detectives had intelligence information about Abedi months before the attack, yet there was no investigation into him since the “true significance” of the information had not been “properly understood.”

A meeting was scheduled for a week after the attack to discuss the threat level from Abedi.

The same review revealed the London Bridge attacker Khuran Butt was also under investigation by security services at the time he attacked. Butt, along with two other jihadis, rammed a van into pedestrians on London Bridge, then jumped out and embarked on a stabbing spree in the nearly restaurants and pubs. Eight people were killed in the June attack with 48 injured.
