Moscow Republican will face Margaret Gannon in November general election

William “Bill” Goesling, R-Moscow, defeated challenger Hari Heath, R-Santa, in the race for the Idaho House of Representatives District 5A House Seat in Tuesday night’s primary election.

The victory sends Goesling to the November general election to face Democratic challenger Margaret “Margie” Gannon, who has held the seat since February when Paulette Jordan resigned to focus on her campaign for Idaho’s governor.

Goesling commanded the lead in Latah County by a margin of 933 votes, racking in 65 percent of the votes to Heath’s 35 percent. In Benewah County, Heath led by 492 votes to Goesling’s 418, but the margin was not enough to make up for the lead Goesling garnered in Latah County. As of press time, Benewah County’s results were incomplete, with the Santa precinct unreported. All precincts had reported in Latah County.
