Uncle Sam should be carrying a barrel to Niagra Falls.

Our own history shows that from the very first Income Tax (passed to fund the 'War of Northern Aggression') that government spending rises to exceed the available funds. I've noted before that money plays the same role for government that blood plays for cancer. I'm convinced now that the only way to reef in our government is to cut funding to the tumors that are bloating the budget.

I did after I made the post. I think I understand the input of the chart and how they are gauging each seperate bubble/supplement. My personal experience compared to the chart conflicts enormously. Honestly the pharmaceutical drug industry is more akin to a snake oil racket than the nutritional supplement industyr. From what I read the pharmaceutical industry made 500 trillion dollars in revenue while the researchers for this chart put the supplemental industry at 23 bilion. The name supplemental explains a lot. What is being supplemented? That which should already be there. Health should be built on a strong foundation of nutrition and not on one that simply treats the symptom instead of the problem.

Secondly. They said that they based the chart off of 1500 placebo trials. Still begs the question of motive.

Thirdly. The pharmeceutical industry had a revenue of 500 trillion dollars in 2007 and that only counts the top twenty distributors.

Lastly. The reason why I am so passionate about this is simply that I believe modern western medicine to be a racket through and through.

There are less jobs because there is declining demand for goods and services which results in less jobs which results in less demand. Contrary to your rhetoric, companies don't hire workers simply because they have money in the bank, they hire them because they can increase their offering of goods and services which increase their revenue out of which they 'tax' the employee's contribution to this revenue stream and call it 'profit'. Then they complain about government doing exactly the same thing to them as they are doing to their employees.

We already know where this administration is likely to go when too big to fail enterprises fail.

The have badgered legitimate holders of corporate debt into signing away their rights (Government Motors / Chrysler). The have strong armed international companies into signing away money to fix problems that Government inaction, thumb twiddling and incompetence exacerbated (BP).

It doesn't take a lot of brains to figure out that this bunch will soon be raiding not only the 'lock box protected' Social Security money, but will be looking for other sources of money (401k, Education Accounts, etc.) to fund the insanity.

Those (approximately) 6,000 combat troops remaining in Iraq are there for recovery/cleanup and to provide security for the 50,000 non-combat US troops still in Iraq.
