Group Blasts IU for Refusing Speaker

How often this story is repeated, from campus to campus across America.

From Campus Reform:

Campus reformers at Indiana University are fighting back against gross liberal bias and bureaucracy to bring free thought, and a free market thinker, to campus.

IU’s Union Board Lecture Committee turned down free market champion Dr. Thomas Woods as a campus lecturer because he lacked “sufficient academic credibility” in the opinion of the IU Economics Department.

But Dr. Woods was educated at Columbia and Harvard, works as a Mises Institute senior scholar, and has written nine books, including the New York Times bestseller Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse.

And IU previously hosted disgraced liberal John Edwards for $35,000, as well as “controversial sex columnist” Dan Savage, far-left feminist Jessica Valenti, prominent atheist Richard Dawkins, and “hip hop intellectual” Marc Lamont Hill.

To put it simply: it’s Dr. Woods’ principles — not his credentials — that IU doesn’t like.

So campus reformers are now taking action. The IU Young Americans for Liberty, who invited Dr. Woods, are fundraising to bring Dr. Woods to campus on their own. They have raised 40 percent of the $4000 they need thanks to the generosity of concerned IU alumni and champions of liberty across the country.
