London and Keely mix it up

Bill LondonConcerning the swastika in Cd’A vs. the “Hitler Jungend” written outside NSA, Bill London writes:

Yes, the two cases are entirely different.

1. Damage to private property Moscow -- none (chalk on public sidewalk with message "Hitler Youth") Coeur d'Alene -- significant (paint on vehicle, slashed tire)

2. Individual targetted (sic) with racial-based "hate crime" attack Moscow -- no Coeur d'Alene -- yes

And Bill London was the one who defended this action in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News as “legitimate and legal speech.”

But the Moscow Human Rights Commission didn’t see it that way.

The Moscow Human Rights Commission is supporting New Saint Andrews College in the wake of harassment the college experienced this week.

On Wednesday morning, NSA students, staff and faculty were greeted by the residue of a chalked message, “Hitler Youth.” Earlier that morning a janitor had found the message and attempted to remove it from the sidewalk outside the building’s student commons entrance.

By Thursday afternoon, the commission released a statement that outlined its “unequivocal condemnation of this act of vandalism,” according to verbage from the statement. The commission’s statement also noted the vandalism “does not reflect the aspirations of the Moscow Human Rights commission and is absolutely contradictory to an environment of constructive civil discourse.”

The Moscow Human Rights Commission called it vandalism and condemned it.

Looks like London is willing to justify just about anything if it’s against a minority group he doesn’t like.

most well known evangelical in MoscowThen comes the standard keely mix comment, placing blame on the victim instead of the perps.

The thing is, if anyone who hated NSA with the rabid intensity that, perhaps, was imagined, the unfortunate fact is that damage would have been done to NSA property.  There was none, for which I'm grateful.

Young people, on the other hand, who at about this time see their leaders, elders, teachers and mentors engage in pranks and tricks -- "Topless Lecture," anywone (sic)? -- might be influenced by them.  Writing "Hitler Youth" in easily-eraseable (sic) chalk in front of NSA -- not ON NSA's buildings, not with anything spray-painted, not with any windows broken nor one iota of damage done to NSA property -- strikes me as, perhaps, a way for some young Trinitarian Skylarker to make a point in the hope that it would be blamed on some foaming-at-the-mouth liberal -- and impress the Big Men on NSA's campus.

In a community where grown-up men from one church rely on pseudonyms to make even the most tepid points, where heroes of the faith steal blog designs, fonts, and formats to trash the author, pastors applaud the theft of university letterhead for knee-slapping April Fools' jokes, and NSA opponents find their cars vandalized with dog ***, it's not too much of a stretch.

Ah, yes, the old “blame the victims” sleight-of-hand. It’s been used for ages against all sorts of minorities and disadvantaged groups. They slashed their own tires, just to get attention. They had trespassers on their property, just to get attention. They put used condoms in their own mailboxes, just to get attention. They had people throw *** at the windows of their houses, just to get attention.

Yea, just the kind of attention people who want to live quiet, peaceable lives want to receive.

You don’t normally hear that kind of “blame the victim” nonsense coming from the left — unless, of course, it’s a minority group that they don’t like. But that’s tolerance for you — only tolerating those whom you agree with.

We’re not called the People’s Republic of Moscow for no reason.
