Five Years Ago Today
As reported in today's edition of the Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
Students at St. Mary's School in Moscow will go at least one more year without a gymnasium. The Moscow City Council pulled the plug on a St. Mary's expansion that would have provided a gymnasium and additional classroom space for the 50-year-old school.
Here’s the details:
- What happened: City Council reversed a decision from the Board of Adjustment allowing St. Mary's School to proceed with a 16,000-square-foot expansion.
- What it means: St. Mary's School cannot expand and remodel its existing facility.
- What happens next: School officials can take the council to district court, or change the project design and apply for a new conditional use permit.
- Who voted to deny the conditional use permit: Council members Linda Pall, John Dickinson and Nancy Chaney.
- Who voted against the motion: Council members Joann Mack and Peg Hamlett.
And who voted against St. Mary’s gymnasium? Linda Pall, John Dickinson and Nancy Chaney.
As I see it, this was the beginning of Chaney’s Reign of Terror over Moscow. And Moscow’s anti-progressive Progressives love the “just say no” to any kind of progress.
