If this result stands (and they are going to still be waiting for absentee votes to come in), then Weber and the GMA should know that I personally am aware of over 40 people who were not going to vote for Weber because of his stance on the anti-smoking vote.
In fact, 53 people who turned up to vote yesterday did not cast a vote for either Weber or Chaney. I was one of those. If Weber had acted like a conservative during the last City Council cycle, he’d be mayor today, plain and simple.
His losing this election was completely due to his voting like a progressive and not like a conservative.
I’d rather have Chaney in office — whom I can predict — than someone I cannot predict.
