Voters want Sali
The following letter to the editor appeared in today’s Lewiston Tribune:
The continuing disparagement of Bill Sali and his run for a seat in Congress provides great evidence of the bias found on these pages. The editors have belittled Mr. Sali's candidacy from the start of the primaries and have never let up. In the politically correct world of the Tribune, where socialists are called moderates and anyone more conservative than George Will is a right-wing fanatic, it is hard for them to accept that Bill is leading in this race.
It's a given that we will all hear how Bill Sali is "a bully" and "difficult to work with" a few more times before the election, but have the editors ever considered the fact that maybe the voters of this district want someone who tells you what he's going to do -- and then does it? That's how Mr. Sali got re-elected to the Legislature so many times. Maybe I want someone who's going to be a junkyard dog when it comes to protecting my freedoms, and my taxes. I think the good folks of the 1st District need a watchdog like Bill Sali, who will stand up to the Insider agenda, rather than a lapdog to Nancy Pelosi as Larry Grant is sure to be.
Bill Sali's principled platform of sensible immigration reform, fiscal sanity and protection of our liberties will come together with those of many other like-minded House members (both Democrat and Republican) to truly change this country for the better. I want my vicar and my mayor to be nice guys, but I'll take a fighter for my congressman.
Dennis Fuller, Orofino
Of course, you are never going to hear the editorial pages of the Daily News or the Lewiston Tribune say this.
