Beth Blanks Hindman's Attack on KQQQ

Picture is ForthcomingKQQQ carried an audio report this morning about the attack that Communications Professor Elizabeth Blanks Hindman has launched against the radio station. According to KQQQ, she called the advertisers on KQQQ, urging them not to advertise there. She has called Bill's behavior "unethical" and "unprofessional".

What apparently has gotten Hindman all steamed is that Evan Ellis Bill comments on the news after it has been read.

As a long-term listener to KQQQ (I faithfully listen every morning for the last 5 years), here is the format that they do the news:

  • Evan Ellis gathers the news.
  • Larry Wier reads the news on the air.
  • Bill asks questions about the stories and comments on the news.

It is very clear where the line between reporting the news and commenting on the news occurs. And I've personally enjoyed how they do both well.

Listen here to the audio report.

Bob Hauser used to do the same thing on KMAX radio station in Colfax.  His "commentaries" ceased when he sold the station; but we certainly appreciated it and had no illusion about it being "news".

The left should complain. Crickey!!  Hindman is the pot calling the kettle black (as my grandma used to say).  How many "news" articles and 60 minute reports are barely disguised bully pulpits for "pink" demogoguery?!
